[Rach] The 21st Bristol Half Marathon took place last Sunday, and Lettie, Welshy, Kirsty, Ben, Rupert, Leroy and myself all took part.
All of us had a good race. Ben has to be noted as the champion after he ran an astounding 1:23:10, beating Rupe's 1:30:00, but did look like he was about to explode when I passed him on the Portway (passed him going the opposite way, rather than passed him overtaking!!)
It was Lettie's first ever half marathon and I've never known anyone to be so excited and proud of the achievement! She definitely proved wrong all her Facebook doubters and finished in a very respectable 02:18:42. She has so far raised a massive £373 for NACOA. You can still sponsor Lettie at her Justgiving page.
Welshy, also ran his first ever half marathon but was cool as a cucumber despite his suspected chest infection and finished in 2:05:19. Kirst is a seasoned half marathon runner and made it in 02:21:57 with a painful knee.
That just leaves Leroy and myself - I was over the moon with my 1:49:07, a personal best and also a real indication that the training is having some effect! Leroy still beat me with 1:45:44 regardless of his relaxed approach to training in the last few weeks!!
It was a brilliant day and a fantastic event. Thanks to everyone who came and supported us, especially Clare, Rod, Pru and Charlie.
If you'd like to sponsor Leroy and myself, (we still have a fair way to go to hit our £1500 each targets) you can do so via the blog, or at our Justgiving pages: Sponsor Rach or Sponsor Leroy.
Only 7 weeks to go until the NYC Marathon!!!
