Welcome to our 'Running the NYC Marathon' fundraising blog. The ultimate aim of this blog is to help us raise money for The Prostate Cancer Charity, whilst providing our supporters with a running (ha ha!) commentary (hopefully in easily-digestible, bite-sized chunks!) on our progress - successes and pitfalls included.
The NYC Marathon is the biggest marathon in the world with some 42,000 people running last year. The logistics alone are enough to get the knees shaking. The 26.2 mile race covers all 5 New York boroughs, starting on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge from Staten Island, via Brooklyn and Queens before closing with the famous run down from The Bronx into Upper Manhattan and Central Park.
We both have our own personal reasons for undertaking this ridiculous challenge, as well as some that are shared - it is a fantastic challenge both physically and mentally, we will raise a significant amount of money for a very worthy charity, it will be an experience of a lifetime, it will be FUN and of course... we get to go to New York to do it!!!
So, we would like to welcome you to share our journey via this blog, and to spread the word to as many people as possible so we can not only provide information and tell our story, but we can collect as much money as possible along the way.
